how we hire

What we’re looking for

Mission alignment

You have an authentic motivation to work on AI safety, including scheming and loss-of-control risks.

Scientific mindset

You are committed to seeking truth through rapid experimentation, remain open to alternative explanations, and avoid overfitting to a preferred conclusion.

Hands-on Builders

You have a proven record of authorship that speaks louder than credentials: code shipped, systems owned, programs built from scratch.

Agency in ambiguity

You are highly self-directed and take projects from start to finish without a playbook or close oversight.

AI-Native Working Style

You make fluent, daily use of AI tools and coding agents. You approach your work with an engineering mindset.

Technical Role

Research Excellence

You design and execute rigorous experiments of exceptional quality. We also value contributions outside of academia, such as general evaluations or red-teaming.

Technical Role

Engineering Excellence

You focus on real-world, production-grade engineering: ML pipelines, CI/CD, distributed systems, and infrastructure, rather than academic scripting.

Technical Role

LLM Steering Experience

You are experienced in prompting, LLM agents, and scaffolding, and fluent in applying supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning to LLMs.

Technical Role

Safety Domain Expertise

For research roles, you have direct experience relevant to scheming, deception, AI control, or model organisms.

Career FAQs

What’s your remote work policy?

Most staff are based in London or San Francisco and come to the office regularly. We find that the best collaboration happens in person and we default to that. We do offer a lot of flexibility in your working hours and when you decide to work from home in order to be the most productive. We can also be flexible during a transition period if you’re relocating.

Do you offer internships?

We don’t currently offer internships. Our team members regularly mentor and speak at various AI safety fellowship programs.

Can I get feedback on my application?

We’re not able to provide feedback for resumes or screening calls.

Can I re-apply if I’m not selected?

Yes, you’re welcome to re-apply after 6 months, or sooner if something materially changes about your experience or skills.

Do you sponsor work visas?

Yes. We sponsor visas and support pathways to permanent residency for eligible roles.
